Microwaved Crispy Ikan Bilis (Dried Anchovies) and Crispy Papadum (Thin round flatbread from India)

This is a much better way of making crispy ikan bilis and papadum without frying in oil. You still get the same crispiness and it’s more healthy without the soaked oil.

I’ve also tried Keropok (Deep fried fish crackers) but it was unsuccessful as most of them are quite thick compared to Papadum.

Get those that are peeled without heads and their insides. Wash, drain and pat dry the ikan bilis.

Spread a layer of ikan bilis on a microwavable plate with kitchen paper towel

Apply a thin layer of cooking oil on the ikan bilis with a cooking spray

Put in a microwave oven and set it to high for 4 mins

Do not place too many ikan bilis at one time or some parts will not be fully cooked

Prepare papadum the same way as ikan bilis

You only need to leave it in the microwave oven for 1 min on high
