The group's trajectory from the corners of dank pubs to the stages of London and Broadway is unheard of, possibly because there's never been another type of act quite like The Tiger Lillies. Their music is baudy, operatic gypsy punk with the drama of cabaret in the charcoal tones of Kurt Weill and Bertholt Brecht. It is art behind microphones at a level verging on magick.
